Covering retail and ecommerce news is no different from other beats in 2025 from the perspective of navigating volatility and expectations for the year. Our team at Digital Commerce 360 just released the 2025 State of American Ecommerce Report, reflecting the research and reporting that we’ve all been doing to look at how 2024 ended for online retail and where ecommerce is going in 2025.
On top of that and the reporting work going on every day, I’ve started a new weekly Ecommerce Trends series, which appears on the website, in the Friday retail newsletter issues, and on DC360’s YouTube and TikTok accounts.
Each installment breaks down some key data points, and many of them will be looking at specific categories, such as Apparel & Accessories (above) or Food & Beverage (below).
Expect to see some more coming on developments in retail media networks, too. I’ve been working in the background on the topic and just spoke with some retail leaders on the topic last week at an event in San Francisco.
Between retailer bankruptcies and plenty of mergers and acquisitions in online retail recently, a lot is happening, and it’s a busy space to cover. But I’m looking forward to some big report releases and more that we have coming soon.
